The Department of Mathematics and Computer science at Eindhoven University in the Netherlands has a vacancy for a PhD position in Computational Algebra and Geometry.

The subject of the PhD project will be decided based on the preferences of the best candidate, who will be allowed choose from several projects defined by Jan Draisma, Hans Cuypers, and Rudi Pendavingh.

One possible project is `Algebraic Matroids in Sage’, under the daily supervision of Rudi Pendavingh.

PhD positions in the Netherlands take 4 years and are regular, albeit temporary, paid jobs.
